For some time now, CARICOM has played an active role in Haiti, influencing the country's political balance and intervening in its internal affairs as both a mediator and facilitator. That is the role of a regional organization and its institutions.

Without going back to the administration of President Jean-Bertrand Aristide in the early 2000s, one can measure CARICOM's impact. It has, at different times, served as a lifeline for Ariel Henry's government, contributed to the destabilization of that same government, and acted as both conductor and sounding board during the creation of the Presidential Transitional Council (CPT).
