“Law enforcement forces are on the ground in Kenscoff. We are fighting. It’s like boxing—you sometimes take punches from your opponent, but we are fighting with police officers and soldiers who are becoming increasingly battle-hardened,” a government source told Le Nouvelliste on Thursday in the late afternoon, as it was still difficult to determine the human toll of another deadly attack in Robin, a neighborhood in this municipality perched in the hills above Pétion-Ville.
“The police are working. Several units are on the ground. This is a fight against bandits. It’s like boxing. After landing twenty-two punches on your opponent, you may end up taking one in return. If it were easy, the problem would already be solved. This is a battle. It is a fight,” the source emphasized, adding that they wished the newly recruited members of the Haitian Armed Forces (FAd’H) and the Haitian National Police (PNH) could be deployed much sooner.
