French President Emmanuel Macron has appointed Gautier Lekens as France’s ambassador to Haiti. The diplomat will take office on September 7, replacing Antoine Michon. Gautier Lekens himself announced his appointment on his LinkedIn account, referring to “a new chapter” in his professional life.
“I am naturally extremely honored by this expression of confidence from the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister and the Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs,” he wrote. The future ambassador also said he is “determined to continue serving France” and to work with French nationals and Haitians to strengthen relations between the two countries.
