Canadian Ambassador to Haiti André François Giroux, in an interview with Le Nouvelliste, said he was proud to be concluding his mission with a sense of duty accomplished.

“I am proud to say that I am leaving with the feeling that I have accomplished my mission (…) I arrived here with the mandate to implement significant Canadian commitments that had been announced a few months before I took office. And as I like to say, it is not easy to spend $100 million responsibly,” he emphasized, noting that this funding was devoted “specifically to rebuilding, arming, equipping and assisting the Haitian National Police (PNH).”
