The Rector of the Public University of Grand’Anse in Jérémie (UPGA), Jean Rony Medy, revealed that he found that in 2021, nearly 90% of the 300 teachers who took part in a training program in the department could “neither read nor write.”
According to Jean Rony Medy, this finding was made at the end of a training program organized by the Directorate of Training and Professional Development and funded by the National Education Fund (FNE). The training brought together first- and second-cycle teachers who had no initial training in the field of education.
