The U.S. Senate and House of Representatives have voted to renew the HOPE/HELP laws through December 31, 2028. President Donald Trump must sign this legislative package for it to take effect. For several stakeholders in the sector, grateful to the United States, this renewal—a breath of fresh air—provides a degree of visibility for buyers and the possibility of preserving the 22,000 jobs in the textile subcontracting sector. Efforts to secure a renewal of around ten years will continue, Le Nouvelliste learned on Tuesday, September 1, 2026.
“We are very satisfied. This two-year renewal will make it possible to preserve the 22,000 remaining jobs in the sector. It will allow us to continue pushing for 10 years. We are seeking permanent HOPE/HELP,” said Georges B. Sassine of ADIH. “The country also has things to do, particularly in terms of security,” he continued, while also expressing the hope for a permanent renewal of the law.
