The first alert concerning suspected cases of anthrax was received on August 26, 2026, according to a statement in which the Grand’Anse health department reviewed the measures taken by the authorities.

“Very quickly, the epidemiology team of the Grand’Anse Health Directorate (DSGA) went into the field to conduct an investigation, provide the necessary response and strengthen epidemiological surveillance in the locality,” the statement reads.
