CARICOM’s Group of Eminent Persons (GEP) expressed concerns regarding voter registration, electoral requirements and the deterioration of the security situation in Haiti. This comes as the country prepares to hold the first round of elections on December 13.

The GEP, which visited Haiti from September 2 to 9, 2026, said in a statement published this Monday, September 14, that it met with a broad range of political and civil society actors. Among them were representatives of the private sector, youth, women and human rights organizations, as well as officials from public institutions and the command of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF).
