Unless a decision is made to the contrary, Haitians will go to the polls on December 13 to choose the future leaders of the Republic. In fact, candidates for the presidency and other elected offices are already known. It remains unclear, however, whether they all have a political platform that is available to the public. Whether the answer is yes or no, it would be a good idea for our official and prospective candidates to take a look at the World Bank’s latest report on Haiti.
Released this week, the report, entitled “Haiti: Pathways to Growth Amid Rising Risks (June 2026),” does more than provide an assessment of the Haitian crisis. It also examines Haiti’s economic potential and constraints and identifies pathways that could enable the country to return to economic growth after seven years of contraction.
