Minister of Foreign Affairs and Religious Affairs Raina Forbin met with her Canadian counterpart, Anita Anand, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The discussions focused notably on the deployment of the Gang Suppression Force (GSF), the organization of the upcoming elections, and the humanitarian situation in Haiti. On this occasion, Canada announced an additional $25 million in humanitarian assistance.

According to a statement issued by Global Affairs Canada, the funding will support efforts to combat corruption and organized crime, prevent the recruitment of young people by gangs, strengthen responses to gender-based violence, and support local peacebuilding initiatives.
