Gary Bodeau is officially in the electoral race. The former Delmas deputy and former President of the Chamber of Deputies, who is running for president under the banner of the Rekonsilye political grouping, is among the nine candidates registered on the Provisional Electoral Council’s (CEP) online platform as of September 23, 2026.

In an interview with the newspaper on Wednesday, the former parliamentarian indicated that running for office in the current context is, first and foremost, a matter of personal commitment. “Being a presidential candidate in this difficult context of national life, where institutions are virtually nonexistent and the State is incapable of stabilizing the country, is, for us, an act of faith marked by sacrifice,” said Gary Bodeau, who “wants to pull the country out of the chaos of the transition” in which Haiti has been trapped for nearly five long years.
