"Ammunition used by the police is regularly found in gang stockpiles," UN experts warned in a report to the Security Council on September 3, 2026. "Diversions of materials from the stockpiles of the Haitian National Police remain a persistent concern, as previously reported by the Group of Experts. Ammunition used by the police is regularly found in gang stockpiles, while firearms issued to the police are frequently recovered from gang members," the UN experts' report states, September 3, 2026.

"For instance, among the 336 cartridges of 7.62 x 51 mm caliber recorded by the Group of Experts following seizures from the Jamesley and Krache Dife gangs in 2026, 70% stemmed from diversions of the stockpiles of the Haitian National Police," the report indicates.
