The latest report from the UN Group of Experts on Haiti continues to provoke a stir. Published earlier this week, the document implicates political men and women for their ties to gangs. It also highlights the connections between criminal activities, drug trafficking and ammunition, and certain illicit economic activities. Invited to the morning show of Magik 9 on Friday, October 9, 2026, Romain Le Cour from Global Initiative described it as the "most comprehensive, detailed, precise, and assertive report" since the committee was established.

According to the Global Initiative expert, the weakening of the rule of law and the disappearance of several safeguards in the fight against impunity are concerning. They could jeopardize the current government. However, Romain Le Cour reminds that the primary responsibility lies with the Haitian authorities. "It is their responsibility to respond to the allegations and investigations, and to engage in the fight against corruption and impunity, in favor of greater transparency," he stated.
