In Haiti, unsafe abortions remain a public health issue that raises questions about access to care, contraception, and reproductive rights. On October 9, 2026, in Pétion-Ville, the Association of Midwives of Haiti (ASFH) and the feminist organization Nègès Mawon held a forum dedicated to the risks associated with this practice and ways to better protect women's health.

The meeting was held with financial support from Global Affairs Canada (GAC) and assistance from the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF). It is part of the EmpowHER Advocacy project – Plas nou pa negosyab, following the International Safe Abortion Day celebrated on September 28.
