About 10,197 people, spread across 2,436 households, have been displaced due to armed violence in the commune of Gros-Morne, in the Artibonite department, from September 28 to October 13, 2026, according to the International Organization for Migration (IOM). The vast majority of these displaced persons (99%) have found refuge with host families, while a small proportion (1%) has settled in two designated sites following this violence, the IOM specifies. The organization adds that the localities located in the communes of Gros-Morne (71%) and Gonaïves (23%) have hosted most of the displaced individuals. The violence primarily affected the localities of Péletier, Carnifice, and downtown, located in the 3rd communal section of Rivière-Blanche; the locality of Kamas, in the 6th communal section of Savane-Carrée; as well as the locality of Dosny, in the 7th communal section of Moulin.
