In an interview on Magik9 on October 15, 2026, Guichard Doré, an executive at the National Old Age Insurance Office (ONA), provided an assessment of the institution, its key figures, and the challenges ahead. "The ONA has about 5,000 people receiving their pensions each month. Of course, this varies depending on the duration of the individual’s contributions and what they paid," he stated. Depending on the work done, pensions range between 5,000 and 200,000 gourdes.

"At the moment, we have 400,000 active individuals in our database," Mr. Doré noted. He warns that in the coming years, 100,000 people will be applying for their pensions and that without reforms, the system will not survive. This justifies, according to him, the ongoing discussions to modify the parametric elements. Among these reforms, motivated by the increase in life expectancy, is the proposal to raise the retirement age from 55 to 62 years.
