Fifty soldiers making up the advance team of five contingents from the Bangladesh army left their country on Thursday, October 15, 2026, heading to Haiti to join the Gang Enforcement Force (FRG), authorized by the United Nations Security Council. This information was communicated by the Bangladeshi army on its X account. Bangladesh is among the contributing countries to the FRG.
1600 police and military personnel from Bangladesh are expected in Haiti between mid-October and late November. This was announced last September during a meeting between Prime Minister Alix Didier Fils-Aimé and Bangladesh Prime Minister Tarique Rahman on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. Germany and the United Arab Emirates will extend their support to facilitate the transport of the contingents and address certain logistical challenges that are delaying the deployment of the force. Germany is expected to allocate a budget of 30 million dollars for this purpose.
