Three months after the launch of the ninth edition of the Youth Journalist Prize in Haiti, the winners are finally known. The award ceremony took place on Thursday, October 15, at the headquarters of the OIF Representation in Pétion-Ville. They are Daniella Saint Louis from Gazette Haïti and The Haitian Times, and Lucnise Duquereste from AyiboPost, respectively first and second place winners in the Written Press category; Ritchy Fortuné from Radio Télé Métropole, and Geneviève Rose Murdith Joseph from the Voix Evangélique d’Haïti (4VEH), in the Spoken Press category; and Guerby Jean from Radio Télé Métropole, for the Audiovisual Press category.
For the Audiovisual Press, only one prize was awarded by the jury, as the other submissions did not meet the organizers' expectations for this largely underrepresented category. This situation did not escape Jean Pharès Jerome, who "encouraged" these professionals to participate in future editions of the competition. The jury president also advocated for the creation of a category dedicated to photojournalists, who have been excluded from the contest launched in Haiti in 2015.
