Opposed to the collection of a 15% tax on salary supplements, bonuses, rewards, and other benefits received by workers in the private and public sectors, Me Jean Bonald Fatal raised his voice during an interview given to Radio Magik9 on Wednesday, October 14, demanding the withdrawal of this provision. According to him, this provision penalizes workers who are already struggling to cope with rising inflation. He also referenced transportation costs, which absorb a significant portion of workers' income.
Me Jean Bonald G. Fatal explained that this measure was introduced in the 2025-2026 rectified budget in Article 3. He acknowledged that this provision is not carried over verbatim in the new 2026-2027 budget. However, Me Fatal reminded that the Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) published a statement on July 14, 2026, indicating the date of October 1, 2026, for the entry into force of this provision aimed at the collection of 15% on all benefits, in addition to their salaries, granted to workers. "I would like the MEF to provide clarification on this point to avoid any confusion. Despite the appeals made to it, the MEF remains silent on this subject," asserted the guest of Magik9.
