"The Port Security Advisory [Port Security Advisory] of June 22, 2026, provides for enhanced security measures for affected vessels operating in Haitian ports. These measures include additional provisions corresponding to security level 2, Security Declarations (Declaration of Security — DoS), access control, the maintenance of security logs, and notifications required prior to arrival in U.S. ports. While some of these obligations directly pertain to the vessels, their implementation also requires rigorous coordination with the competent authorities and port facilities," said the Director General of the National Port Authority (APN), Jean Evens Charles, on Monday, October 26, 2026.
"The APN contributes to this effort by strengthening the skills of personnel, targeted training, improving the tracking of security declarations, including in facilities not certified under the ISPS Code, as well as enhancing control measures by acquiring scanners and maintaining surveillance in the port areas under its responsibility," Mr. Charles stated.
