Candidate for the presidency in the upcoming elections under the banner of the Haitian Labor Movement (MTH), businessman Olivier Barrau presents his approach as a desire to change the way politics is done. Between fighting corruption, restoring security, modernizing the state apparatus, and mobilizing the diaspora, the entrepreneur, in an interview with Nouvelliste, outlined the main points of a project he claims to represent in the name of a collective vision.
Lucien Olivier Barrau is the 19th man to run for the presidency in the upcoming elections registered on the online platform of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) this Tuesday, October 27, 2026. When asked by Le Nouvelliste about the meaning of his candidacy, he claims that running for office is not just a personal ambition. Chairman of the Board of the Union Haitian Bank (BUH), president and CEO of the Alternative Insurance Company (AIC), he describes himself as someone long committed to the country's public policy.

"My dream is that after the five-year term, if I am elected president, politics will be done differently. To fight the corruption that prevents us from moving forward, restore security, and empower young people and women to fully play their role in the country's development," he said to the newspaper.

The first priority mentioned by the candidate is the state apparatus itself. "One of the most important things we need to do today is to transform the state machine," he stated, emphasizing the use of technology and the enhancement of human capital within the state apparatus. Olivier Barrau wants to rely on the skills of Haitian technicians in the country and those in the diaspora to build an administration that serves all citizens.

"Today, this is one of our greatest weaknesses. The state machine must be at the service of our citizens," he insists. The message is that of a manager who sees the efficiency of the administration as the condition for any recovery.
