A meeting dedicated to the stabilization and recovery project for downtown Port-au-Prince took place on Thursday, October 29, 2026, at the Departmental Direction of the West (DDO) in Champ-de-Mars. It gathered government authorities, representatives of the United Nations, and local elected officials, with the backdrop of the will to gradually restore the presence of the State in the capital.
"On this occasion, the Resident Representative of UNDP in Haiti, Mr. Xavier Michon, presented the AVANSE project, intended to support efforts for stabilization, recovery, and reconstruction in the affected areas. He indicated that the works should begin in November 2026. Several UNDP partners also participated in the discussions remotely," reported the presidency in a statement this Thursday.
