Passed away on Sunday, October 25, 2026, at the age of 66, artist-painter Philippe Antoine leaves behind the memory of a creator dedicated to exploring forms and plastic expressions. Born in Port-au-Prince on January 30, 1960, trained at the École nationale des arts (ENARTS), he notably distinguished himself in the 1980s as part of the group of young painters of the French Institute in Haiti. A professor at ENARTS, he also shared with painter Rénold Laurent a creative experience of working together on a monumental mural at the Institut supérieur d’études et de recherches en sciences sociales (ISERSS). A look back at this joint work, a testament to artistic complicity and commitment to mural art.

For about two weeks now, in the early days of November 2013, two painters, Rénold Laurent and Philippe Antoine, have been fully committed to creating a mural at the Institut supérieur d’études et de recherches en sciences sociales (ISERSS). An initiative aimed at bringing this form of art that is mural painting, favored by great Mexican masters such as Diego Rivera and Alfaro Siqueiros, within reach of students.
