Under the theme: "Standardization, a true lever for economic development for Haiti", the Haitian Bureau of Standardization (BHN) celebrated World Standards Day on Friday, October 30, 2026, at the Horizon room of the Montana hotel. During the celebration, the director of the BHN, Monorde Civil, announced the official relaunch of activities of the National Electrotechnical Committee. He expressed his desire to revitalize this committee and mobilize national expertise to contribute to standardization efforts. Furthermore, the BHN took advantage of this day to present certificates to young people who participated in training on ISO 9001, ISO 22000, ISO 17025 standards, etc.

“The BHN will continue its efforts to promote and develop standardization in priority sectors for our country, including agri-food, health and safety, the environment, circular economy, energy, infrastructure, and resilience to climate change,” promised Monorde Civil, emphasizing that the BHN has already undertaken significant work in several of these areas. The head of the BHN indicated that the bureau has indeed adopted standards related to environmental management systems and adaptation to climate change. In this regard, he stated that this work demonstrates how standardization can directly contribute to the necessary responses to the major socio-economic and environmental challenges facing the country.
