While the country remains at a standstill and protest movements are organized demanding his resignation, in an early address to the nation on Thursday, February 8, the Prime Minister asserted that he intends to remain in power until elections are held in the country. However, he did not announce any date for these elections. Ariel Henry simply told his detractors that "one transition cannot lead to another transition..."
It has become a tradition. After each intense protest movement in the country, the person in power addresses the nation in an attempt to appease spirits until the next day of mobilization and violence. Ariel Henry adhered to this tradition. Following the large anti-government mobilization on February 7, during which five BSAP agents were killed, the Prime Minister addressed the nation to reiterate what he usually says.
