The building housing the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the former Gala Tower, has today become an ivory tower in which Minister Forbin shuts herself away. Regarding the reality of the fight against gangs, she does nothing but make false claims, in a world where information is instantaneous. Far from being an isolated accident, this disconnect seems deeply rooted in her nature. Seeing fictitious operations supposedly carried out, on the Prime Minister’s orders, against gangs in Kenscoff following the carnage they perpetrated there during the night of August 23 to 24, 2026, shows that she lives in a gilded bubble. Her blindness is not even dictated by a deliberate attitude aimed at provoking the population; it is simply inspired by childishness. As for the head of government, he exercises authority according to his impulses, like a child for whom power is nothing more than a political rattle. Everything is collapsing around him. Businesses are being held hostage by gangs that extort them, deportees are like herds abandoned in the wild, parents of students are at their wits’ end on the eve of the school year, the population is becoming increasingly impoverished, and gangs frequently announce their terrorist operations without fear of being countered. Meanwhile, the Prime Minister, more narcissistic than ever, concerns himself only with pomp and rituals, such as receiving honors far ahead of the rows of ministers or, according to the Métronome platform, having his portrait displayed in public administrations, or having his motorcade sweep through congested streets with all sirens blaring.
But the most distressing thing is this card he holds in his hand and has never played. It is obvious that the diligence with which Washington officials are trying to consolidate his position can only be explained by the absence of alternative forces. Instead of capitalizing on this advantage during the visit of U.S. Deputy Secretary of State Christopher Landau last May, in order to secure benefits within his reach such as the resumption of flights to Port-au-Prince, he merely displayed a blissful smile in a selfie. His attitude was reminiscent of delighted children surrounding a makeshift Santa Claus in a department store in December. Another appalling fact: his order to retaliate against the terrorists came two days after the Kenscoff tragedy, despite warnings issued well in advance by the commissioner in charge of the police station. Did he realize the extent to which his posture provoked laughter tinged with dismay?
