The Haitian National Police (PNH), supported by the population in compliance with the law and the Constitution, is strengthening and planning to intensify its operations against armed gangs in Port-au-Prince and elsewhere in the country, a source close to the PNH told Le Nouvelliste a few hours before the arrival, on Monday, May 8, 2023, of four armored vehicles ordered from the Canadian firm Inkas and delivered by a US Air Force plane.

"We are waiting for the other armored vehicles. But with these, we will be able to intensify our operations. After taking control of Laboule 12, we are now in the consolidation stage, with the support of the population, to prevent the bandits from coming back. For a week, the police have repulsed Ti Lapli and his men from taking control of Savane Pistache, a strategic location overlooking Port-au-Prince and providing a passage to downtown, Pacot, Laboule, and Thomassin. We are gradually starting an operation in Village-de-Dieu. We are currently in a phase of isolating these bandits," said the source, while the rest of the armored vehicle order is being finalized, ready to be delivered once logistical arrangements are completed.
