In recent days, the Haitian National Police has received a double support - first, from the population in several cities and neighborhoods, and second, from international partners who are finally taking concrete actions. It all started with the pursuit of bandits in Laboule 12. A group of them fled and were stopped at Canapé-Vert, resulting in the death of the bandits, a popular mobilization, and an alliance between police and residents, giving birth to the Bwa Kale movement.

Since April 24th, whenever possible, police officers and civilians have been working together, and trust has been restored. The movement has its limitations, as not all cities or neighborhoods are involved. In some areas, both police and residents feel that the gangs are too strong, well-established, and well-armed. The Haitian National Police acknowledges this and is taking small steps to limit the expansion of gangs and possible retaliation.
