The tandem of Mirlande H Manigat and Ariel Henry displayed perfect unity at the forum held at the Karibe Hotel this week. The High Council of the Transition (HCT) and the signatory allies of the December 21 agreement took the stage for two days. Prime Minister Henry reiterated his old promises to restore security, which is essential for elections.
"I also share with you the idea that we urgently need to restore a secure environment, guaranteeing freedom of movement for people and goods," said Ariel Henry to participants at the forum. The Prime Minister, as head of the CSPN, after 22 months in power, must surely have a unique understanding of the word "urgency." Perhaps he forgets that June 1, 2023, will mark the second anniversary of the gangs taking control of Martissant and the southern entrance of Port-au-Prince.
