The circle of countries favoring the deployment of an international force in Haiti continues to expand, and the upcoming United Nations Security Council meeting on July 16th can be a decisive milestone, Minister of Foreign Affairs Jean Victor Généus stated in an interview with Le Nouvelliste on June 16, 2023.

"After renewing the request for the deployment of an international force, consultations are ongoing, and the number of countries advocating for collective action to rescue Haiti from this ongoing nightmare keeps growing. The Security Council session scheduled for July 16th could mark a critical turning point. Urgent action is needed. The suffering of the population must be brought to an end," emphasized Chancellor Généus.
