A total of 118,342 students participated in the first day of baccalaureate exams on Monday, July 31, throughout the country. The Minister of National Education and Vocational Training expressed relief regarding the postponement of the public transport unions' strike, stating, "The ministry thanks all those who supported its plea to protect the right to education at all times. Let us not forget that Haiti must make up for the equivalent of one lost school year from 2019 to the present. Schools should no longer be held hostage to sociopolitical crises."
"The baccalaureate candidates need a calm environment and, of course, transportation to reach the exam centers. I believe they are relieved by this positive outcome," he said, referring to the postponement of the public transport unions' strike.
