Caricom continues to fulfill its role as a mediator, conducting separate meetings with the various parties involved in Haiti's political crisis. During the meeting held on Tuesday, August 1, via the online Zoom platform, the signatories of the December 21 agreement reaffirmed their position on retaining the Prime Minister and expanding the membership of the High Council of the Transition (HTC).
The position supported by the signatories of the December 21 agreement entails forming an inclusive government, increasing the HTC members from three to five, revising their powers, establishing a Provisional Electoral Council, and reviewing the Constitution.
