The upsurge in gunshot injuries is becoming more pronounced. Among the casualties are individuals at the forefront – both police officers and gang members – as well as innocent civilians who become victims of stray bullets.

At the State University Hospital of Haiti (HUEH), approximately twenty patients were admitted with gunshot wounds between the conclusion of July and the commencement of August 2023. On Wednesday, August 16, 2023, three patients were attended to at the outpatient clinic of HUEH's surgical department for the extraction of projectiles. This phenomenon becomes even more remarkable due to its synchrony with a significant upswing in cases of abduction.
