While the government is counting on a multinational force to restore security in the country and halt the armed groups that have plagued the population for far too long, these influential members of Haiti's intellectual elite believe that the solution can be found through coordinated actions between the National Police, the Armed Forces of Haiti, and the population.

"We denounce the authorities' silence and passivity in the face of the tragedy faced by families and demand that the Haitian Government mobilize all necessary resources within the state to enable the National Police and the Armed Forces of Haiti, in coordinated action with the population, to put an end to the blind and savage violence of armed gangs across the entire national territory," they stated in a joint declaration published on August 18, 2023.
