Eight days after gang attacks targeted five out of the twenty-five neighborhoods in Carrefour-Feuilles, the Center for Analysis and Research in Human Rights (CARDH) conducted an initial assessment at five out of the 20 sites accommodating internally displaced people. This evaluation revealed that the displaced individuals are living in a highly critical situation, despite interventions by certain governmental and humanitarian entities, noted Me Gédéon Jean, who spoke on the "Panel Magik" program on Thursday, August 24th. As a result, the CARDH sounded an alarm, urging the relevant authorities to improve coordination on the ground, identify the specific needs of each site, and implement effective emergency interventions that address the displaced individuals' needs.
The CARDH recommends a coordination structure for the displaced, along with a clear and effective action plan in response to the alarming observations it has made. "We primarily visited 5 sites, spaces accommodating internally displaced people, including the Vincent gymnasium, the Carl Brouard municipal school, the Leclerc Tertullien college, and the Eldorado cinema." "The Carrefour-Feuilles high school, eight days later, has not received any intervention. This school shelters 3,000 displaced individuals, including 189 children and 13 infants. There are also disabled individuals, mentally ill patients, and pregnant women. These people are crammed together," lamented Me Jean.
