Since 2021, police stations, substations, and police outposts have been regularly targeted by armed bandits. Some buildings are attacked, others are looted before being set on fire. In order to instill fear and gain the upper hand in the psychological warfare they wage against the population, the criminals, in most cases, film their deeds and subsequently share photos and videos on social media.

After consulting our archives and those of the human rights organization RNDDH, the newspaper has counted over twenty police buildings that have been attacked or taken over by the bandits. The Martissant police station has not been under the control of the PNH since June 2021. The place was abandoned by the police when a war broke out between the gangs of Grand Ravine and Village de Dieu against the gang of Ti Bwa.
