Nothing is certain yet regarding the deployment of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti. Despite the adoption of UN Security Council Resolution 2699 last week, the Kenyan judiciary temporarily suspended the sending of Kenyan troops to Haiti, even though Kenya leads the mission.

While UN Security Council Resolution 2699 does not mention any collaboration between the Multinational Mission and the Armed Forces of Haiti, the latter are nonetheless trying to make their presence known. In a notice published on Monday, the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Haiti inform the general public and interested parties that candidate cadets (both men and women) will be recruited from October 9 to October 29, 2023.
