A new development has emerged in the case of weapons and ammunition trafficking involving the Episcopal Church of Haiti. Le Nouvelliste has learned that Government Commissioner Edler Guillaume at the Court of First Instance in Port-au-Prince has lodged an appeal against the order issued by investigating magistrate Marthel Jean Claude. In the order, the magistrate concluded that the privileges granted to the Episcopal Church of Haiti were exploited by a network of criminals without their knowledge. Priests Jean Mardochée Vil and Frantz Cole, along with employees of the Episcopal Church of Haiti, have been exonerated from the charges.
"The Government Commissioner has officially appealed the order issued on October 4th. This ruling has adverse implications for society. The Government Commissioner, acting as the guardian of society, is dissatisfied and has opted to pursue the case in appellate court. Consequently, no one has been acquitted, and all the accused will remain in custody," the source informed the newspaper.
