"My opinion: the only way out of a political transition is through democratic, transparent and participatory elections. You don't come out of a transition with a new transition. To achieve these elections, security must first be guaranteed", these words were spoken by Maria Isabel Salvador at the opening of a series of four messages posted on the social network X (formerly Twitter), on Tuesday November 7, 2023.

Salvador, Special Representative of the Secretary-General and Head of the UN Integrated Office in Haiti, went on to say: "We must protect and guarantee the right of women and men in Haiti to elect and be elected. The Haitian people have the right to vote, once the security situation is guaranteed".
