As armed groups increasingly arm themselves and extend their influence daily across the country, the National Commission for Disarmament, Dismantling, and Reintegration, which was supposed to disarm and dismantle them, accuses the government of neglecting its work. In this self-assessment, obtained exclusively by Le Nouvelliste on Friday, February 2, the CNDDR asserted that it, too, is a victim of insecurity resulting from the proliferation of gangs.

"The CNDDR currently shares an office with the Western Departmental Directorate of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation located on the route to the Airport. This space is not suitable for the tasks it must perform. Moreover, this area is in a red zone, always congested, and under the control of several armed groups, making certain meetings and visits to the office extremely difficult," complained Colonel Edwin Florexil, coordinator of the CNDDR, in the self-assessment.
