In Port-au-Prince, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find oxygen for patients. A shortage of this medical gas has been observed on the market for the past few days. A manager of a major hospital explained to the newspaper that he was only able to obtain 10 cylinders on Friday, February 9. The manager of another hospital revealed that a crisis meeting was held on the issue on the same Friday.

Le Nouvelliste contacted Bernard Chauvet from Industrial Dynamics, one of the main oxygen suppliers in the market. He explained to the newspaper that tension in La Saline, resulting from clashes between gangs, is the main cause of this shortage. "The oxygen we ordered is at the customs of Port-au-Prince. The customs clearance has already been paid. But we cannot get the product out. Boulevard La Saline is completely controlled by gangs. There is no way for employees of CPS, APN, and customs to go to work," regretted Bernard Chauvet, adding that this has been going on for more than two weeks.
