This year, on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of Group Croissance, the International Finance Summit will hold an edition in Miami. The event will take place on April 6 and 7 at the Miami Airport Convention Center in Miami. This first edition in the "11th department" pursues the dual objective of showcasing multiple opportunities to explore in the post-crisis period and mobilizing the diaspora to support Haiti's economic recovery and development.
In an interview with Le Nouvelliste, the CEO of Group Croissance, Kesner Pharel, justified the choice of Miami after about twenty editions of this major event in Port-au-Prince, Les Cayes, Jacmel, Cap-Haïtien, etc. "In the context of the crisis facing the country, it is necessary to involve our compatriots from the diaspora. The figures justifying this choice are clear. The national budget does not exceed 2.5 billion dollars. International aid, integrated into this budget, does not exceed 2 billion dollars. Foreign direct investment no longer exists in Haiti. On the other hand, the main source of foreign currency in the economy comes from remittances, amounting to around 4 billion dollars. This amount allows us, among other things, to cover the nearly 3 billion dollars trade deficit. However, these 4 billion are only intended for consumption. During the Summit, we will raise awareness among the diaspora on how they could organize themselves so that this amount is retained in the national economy," explained Kesner Pharel at length.
