The World Food Programme (WFP) needs a little over 100 million dollars to fund its activities over the next six months in Haiti, of which 60.8 million are solely for emergency food assistance. The country is facing the "worst humanitarian crisis since the earthquake of January 12, 2010," Carl Skau, WFP's Deputy Executive Director, revealed to Le Nouvelliste at the end of his mission on Sunday, April 21, 2024.

"We need 103 million dollars for the next six months. That will be my main message after my trip to Haiti. It's a devastating crisis with a massive humanitarian impact. It's the most severe humanitarian crisis since the earthquake of January 12, 2010. The entire country, as indicated by Carl Skau, is affected by the violence that has caused the displacement of thousands of people, disruptions in commerce, and agriculture. Approximately 5 million people are experiencing food insecurity, with 1.6 million in a state of extreme emergency."
