Prime Minister Garry Conille announced in a press conference this Thursday that his government will implement a strategy to combat corruption. The announcement followed a meeting with the directors general of oversight and anti-corruption agencies, including UCREF, ULCC, CNMP, DCPJ, BAF, CSCCA, and the ministers of Economy and Justice. The meeting came after the installation of Marie Chantale Dumay as Minister in charge of cleaning up state institutions and combating corruption and impunity.

"We wanted to launch this strategy at the beginning of our term. The Haitian crisis, marked by insecurity, social, humanitarian, and economic problems, is fundamentally linked to a state that has failed to fulfill its role. Therefore, we cannot address the root problem without tackling the underlying disease. There is fundamentally an issue of poor governance and corruption that is ingrained in the state's structure," explained Garry Conille, emphasizing that the perception of corruption continues to render the state ineffective.
