Prime Minister Garry Conille began his first official visit to Washington on Monday, July 1st. Accompanied by Finance Minister Ketleen Florestal, Foreign Affairs Minister Dominique Dupuy, Chief of Staff Nesmy Manigat, and Central Bank Governor Ronal Gabriel, he visited the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB). There, he met with Ana Maria Ibañez, Vice President for Sectors and Knowledge, and Amanda Glassman, advisor to the IDB President. Haiti’s representative to the IDB, Alfred Metellus, participated in the discussions, while IDB President Ilan Goldfajn joined via videoconference.

Following the talks, PM Conille announced that the IDB officials agreed to release $40 million for priority projects in Haiti for this fiscal year. "These funds were part of a previous envelope that was at risk of going unused due to implementation difficulties, lack of projects, and vision. They will be spent on the priorities we define for this year. We are focused on rebuilding police stations, hospitals, and schools that have served as shelters. The IDB officials adopted our vision and committed to mobilizing other economic and financial partners for Haiti," said the Prime Minister.
