Since his appointment on June 12, Prime Minister Garry Conille has been in the spotlight both in Haiti and abroad. However, the members of the Transitional Presidential Council are determined not to remain overshadowed by their head of government. Following their dispute with the Prime Minister over his trip to the United States, the presidential advisors are making efforts to reclaim their influence by increasing their visits to public institutions.
The meeting between the Prime Minister and the members of the Presidential Council last Monday regarding Garry Conille's trip to the United States and the government's recalls in diplomatic and consular missions allowed the two branches of the executive to resolve some tensions. The Prime Minister's Office and the CPT attempted to clarify the Prime Minister's prerogatives and the presidency's responsibilities concerning external cooperation and diplomacy.
