Prime Minister Garry Conille is engaging in extensive communication. On Monday, July 15, 2024, his office announced that he "appointed Divisional Inspector Ronald Léveillé as Chief of Security at the Prime Minister's Office (USPM)." "On this occasion, Prime Minister Dr. Garry Conille highlighted the commitment and leadership of Divisional Inspector Léveillé in his work at the Prime Minister's Office over the past few years," read a statement posted on the Prime Minister's Facebook page. This is likely the first time such an internal appointment has been publicized. This can be seen as an attempt to foster trust through a more horizontal approach, but it also reflects a tendency towards micromanagement.
The Promise of Improving the Business Climate
"The Prime Minister, Dr. Garry Conille, participated in the MIH Expo Fair at the El Rancho Convention Center on Saturday, July 13, 2024," the Prime Minister's Office announced. "By attending this socio-economic event, I want to assure industrialists, entrepreneurs, artisans, and all other professionals of my government’s commitment to work in concert with other sectors of national life to improve the business climate in the country," explained Prime Minister Conille. While the organization of such a fair is commendable, the images of PM Conille's participation paint a picture far removed from reality. His promise to improve the business climate seems equally out of touch. The business climate, according to various definitions, encompasses factors that impact business decisions and development. This includes socio-demographic, economic, political, legal, infrastructural, technological, and environmental factors, among others. Dr. Conille is expected to be in power for two years.
