In recent weeks, cases of kidnapping and murder have been reported in several regions of Haiti, highlighting a resurgence of insecurity. Jean Ardouin Louis Charles criticized the authorities: "Despite the current government’s presence, the phenomenon of kidnapping has seen a dramatic increase. Kidnappers have abducted Dr. Elie Nicolas, who has since been released, and Dr. Alain Pierre, who is still being held by the kidnappers. His release is conditioned on the payment of a huge ransom," he explained on the show "Panel Magik."
"We, within the AMH, are vigorously protesting and are angry about the resurgence of kidnapping in the country. Kidnapping has surged again in the face of a government that offers no response. If the state had reacted appropriately to the insecurity, doctors would not be kidnapped, and people wouldn’t be dying every single day. Authorities must take measures commensurate with this insecurity so that doctors can work in peace and with clarity in the prevention and treatment of diseases," added Mr. Louis Charles.
