About four months after contributing to the establishment of the Presidential Transition Council (CPT), the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group is in Haiti for an evaluation visit. The delegation seeks clarification on several issues, including corruption allegations against CPT members, strained relations between the presidential advisors and stakeholders, the April 3rd agreement not yet published in Le Moniteur, elections, the Multinational Security Support Mission (MSSM), and the ongoing insecurity.
Like a school recitation, the members of the CPT, the Prime Minister, the sectors involved in the creation of the Presidential Council, and soon, various civil society organizations are all appearing before the CARICOM Eminent Persons Group for an assessment of the situation in Haiti. About four months after the establishment of the CPT, the body responsible for the Presidential Council is back in Haiti, attempting to reinvigorate its efforts.
