The corruption allegations against presidential advisors are causing embarrassment for CARICOM, the primary supporter of the Transitional Presidential Council. Although the CARICOM delegation’s visit to Haiti two weeks ago did not provide any explanations regarding the scandal involving 100 million gourdes at the National Credit Bank (BNC), CARICOM convened a meeting on Tuesday with the leaders of the three sectors whose representatives are implicated in the corruption scandal.
According to Pascal Adrien, a signatory of the December 21 agreement who met with the CARICOM delegation, "If we try to understand the message from the CARICOM delegation, it would suggest temporarily removing the three implicated presidential advisors while awaiting clarification on the case... But this is not an injunction. It cannot be an injunction either...," he stated.
